40 Miles
I’m 40 years on this earth, 40 miles from heaven.
When I’m due there I don’t know, depends upon the weather.
Cloudy skies will get you there a little faster.
It’s those sunny days without a care, are the ones you’re after.

Don’t be bothered by what people tell you
There’s so much more life has to give – just open the door.

Doctor, Lawyer or Preacher man would you put your trust in them,
or a politician, a car salesman would it be the same to you?

The papers say you’re a fool to trust someone with a gun to your head.
It’s all too much, much easier to let someone do your thinking.

So give up at your own request – oblivion to fear,
Comes a time with nothing to lose and no one left to hear you.

The moment you surrender or give up your control
Is the moment you let those rodents in – to wreck your very soul.
