They Called Him Junior
ROBERT LOCKWOOD WAS MY LAST OLD PAL, WHO RECORDED WAY BACK WHEN & WAS TAUGHT GUITAR BY HIS 'STEP FATHER', ROBERT JOHNSON. I MET ROBERT A FEW TIMES BEFORE, BUT HE DIDN'T OPEN UP TO ME UNTILL I MENTIONED THAT HACKSAW HARNEY STAYED AT MY PLACE IN NYC FOR A FEW DAYS BACK IN '72…….. ROBERT WHEN INTERVIEWED FOR LIVING BLUES MAGAZINE, ABOUT GUITARS PLAYERS FROM BACK IN THE DAY, MENTIONED THAT HACKSAW WAS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE DELTA AND THE ONLY ONE ROBERT JOHNSON FOLLOWED AROUND STEALING GUITAR SECRETS FROM…….. HE WAS NOT AWARE THAT HARNEY WAS STILL ALIVE AND WAS STILL PLAYING MUSIC AND DID NOT BELIEVE ME, UNTILL I TOLD HIM I REALLY LIKED HIS PIANO PLAYING. BACK IN THE 30'S, HARNEY DID NOT RECORD PLAYING PIANO!
