Pink Slime Burgers & Gov Cheese (3:10)
This is just a fun song. The refreshing style of this song includes female vocal responses which remind you of a modernized “Shangri Las” or Dion and the Belmonts style tune. You’ll get a kick out of it. People are inclined to want to sing along, but girls will especially have fun singing along. Haunting steel guitar riffs set the mood along with the rhythmic chug of a strat as it launches us into the disconcerting lyrics of the chorus. This one makes you smile in spite of the scary message that we all need to be aware of. So play it, sing it and enjoy it.
Song Notes
This is fun…a lighthearted song that hints about a complicated and serious matter: Inappropriate connections between government regulations and the commercial interests. The government “buddy system” profits enormously from lucrative government contracts, subsidy programs and strategic regulations. This graft is even more insidious when it masquerades as beneficial social programs designed to gain public approval. One line of the song’s chorus sings out, “They make us all dumb and easy to lead” reflecting the unsettling belief of the political elite that thinks it can get away with picking our pockets. And clearly, they have gotten away with it…both political parties for too many years. So play it, and turn it up so everyone can hear about it.
