In Those Days
Writer: Connie Leigh
Well, I went to the house of a dear friend
Old Arthur was 90 years old
And he smiled when he talked about those days
And a time that was so long ago.
He told me about his one true love
How that Alice became his sweet wife
And though they lived through the hardest of hard times,
Those were still the best days of his life.
He said then was when a man was a man
Made a livin' by the sweat of his brow
Neighbors were neighbors back then
And family was what life was about.
He told me about their children
Respected their mother and dad
And how they worked as a family together
Appreciated the life that they had.
Then his old eye spilled over with teardrops
As he talked about how times have changed
How he wished he could go back to those years
And relive his life over again.
