Lazy Whipporwill
Writer: Jerry Cole

Well I'm so blue and lonesome
Every night it starts again
I try to hide the way I feel
It seems I'll never win
If I could hear that mournful song
This pain might let me be
But that Lazy Whipporwill
Won't sing his song for me.

Well I keep waiting, while he sits up in the tree
And I'm not sure, but I think he's blaming me
I'd like to get this over, but no matter how I plead
The triflin' lazy Whipporwill, won't sing his song for me.

It's like he knows I'm hurtin'
So I'll get what I deserve
Sleepless and endless days
On a Cold plate I am served
I reckon I don't qualify
For a tune that should be free
Because that lazy Whipporwill
Won't sing his song for me.
