She's Given up on Today
My mum began suffering from depression some years ago and this song is in part a reflection of that. So it's a mixture of reality and fantasy. It also has a kind of film like quality to it, I wrote imagining someone else living in my mums shoes. Maybe it made it easier to get the song out of me that way.

It's a song that looks at the desperation and isolation people suffering from depression feel. Even when there are people around them who love them its difficult for them to find comfort in that.

Depression still has a stigma attached to it, the same as many metal health issues, that's changing in this country, but very slowly.
