Wasteland
Wasteland

It’s strip malls, and car lots pork rinds and gasoline
Fast food and house plans and not much in between
It’s billboards and concrete, and for sale signs everywhere
Semi’s and gashogs fouling up the air
It used to so peaceful with miles of open road
Now it’s a wasteland
Nothing but a wasteland

It’s red lights and stop signs and traffic every way
Cogo’s and Wallmarts cropping us each day
It’s dozers and backhoes and gas rigs drilling down
Spoiling the water and fracking up the ground
There used to some forests and sweeping emerald farms
Now it’s a wasteland
Nothing but a wasteland

What has become of this country
What has become of the chestnut trees
Mile after mile of more of the same
As far as the eye can see

It’s just a wasteland
Nothing but a wasteland

It’s litter and tire scraps and hub caps on the berm
Potholes and road kill crushed glass at every turn
Broken down Chevy’s abandoned where they died
A mitten, a dress shoe, an ear ring left behind
It used to be so quiet with endless starlit sky
Now it’s a wasteland
Nothing but a wasteland
Yeah it’s a wasteland nothing but a wasteland
