Cross Beside The Highway feat. Brandon Rickman
Cross Beside The Highway
Rick Lang, Oct. 1991
Now if you ever come across highway 51
There’s a sight there that will shake your mortal soul.
For every mile or so there’s a cross beside the road
A reminder of its’ tragic human toll
There’s no sharp twists or turns, or long steep winding curves
But some think that roads got a mind of its’ own.
For it has claimed the life of travelers ‘ day and night
In mysterious ways no one seems to know.
*CHORUS
There’s a cross beside the highway white as snow
For each and every life that’s been lost.
You had better pray should you go down that road
That the next cross there just don’t turn out to be…your very own.
They say sometimes late at night you can hear their moans and cries
And the sound of screeching tires and busting glass.
To this day people fear that their spirits still live there
And you can feel their presence each time you drive past.
*CHORUS
