Big Thicket Black
Over in the piney woods near the Louisiana border
There is a place with it's own law and order
The woods are so thick it is untraveled land
All the folks who live there no and understand

Way back in the woods there's a rumor of a clan
Part Cajun part Indian they control the land
You might catch a glimpse but then it's way to late
You better not go in there boy and cheat your fate

A few have gone in none have come back
They're gone without a trace, there are never, never any tracks
A few have gone in none have come back
That's the way it's always been
In the Big Thicket Black

Confederate deserters and the ghost of old Bragg road
Sometimes are seen at night when the south wind blows
A latern swinging in the air is a sign to beware
The thicket is so black you can't get out of there

A few have gone in none have come back
They're gone without a trace, there are never, never any tracks
A few have gone in none have come back
That's the way it's always been
In the Big Thicket Black
In the Big Thicket Black
In the Big Thicket Black
