I TOOK YOUR MEMORY FOR A WALK
I TOOK YOUR MEMORY FOR A WALK

This song I wrote over 40 years ago and through
my years of playing Honky-Tonks it was a favorite
with the Folks who wanted a shuffle song. I first
recorded this song 1958 and many times since.

I just spent a happy day by your side
Made believe our love had never been denied
I told you little things I longed to say
When I Took Your Memory For A Walk today

Cho: I walked back to where we shared our first kiss
Made believe our love had never come to this
I almost forgot dreams had gone astray
When I Took Your Memory For A Walk today

I walked slowly as I watched the sun go down
Then I took another stroll back into town
Saw your ring in the window on display
When I Took Your Memory For A Walk today
Cho:
I looked again at the house we almost bought
And the memory was such a happy thought
Then I slowly turned around and walked away
When I Took Your Memory For A Walk Today
