Born In The Country
R.D. blends Gospel, Country and Blues in his self-penned title track, which is a true
reflection of his hard life as a kid on the family farm. While working the fields, his dog
by his side, he recounts the story of the “old two-bottom plow on the broke-down Allis-
Chalmers (tractor)” that he used. His abusive father thought that would make a man out
of him, but Olson puts an astounding twist to the story. The organ, guitar and drum music
help create a bewildering mood for the unfolding story of the boy, now a man, who has
the last say. Olson’s vocal delivery is emphatic and heartfelt, etching a picture in our
imaginations.
