Perspective
Perspective

Well I don’t think I’ve grown much at all in the last thirty years
But my Dad always says, when he sees me, “My, look how much you’ve grown my dear”
I said, “Dad, it comes down to perspective, and you know, you’ve turned 74.
It’s not that I’m growing toward the ceiling, but you’re growing toward the floor”

All we need is some perspective
A little space and time
See things from a different place
I’ll step in your shoes, you take mine

As a child, I jumped right off a mountain without fear and without praying
You and I played with fire, and ran together through the rain
Now I’m grown but sometimes when I’m afraid to go against the grain
I think about the pile of sand that was my childhood mountain, and I jump again

All we need is some perspective
A little space and time
See things from a different place
I’ll step in your shoes, you take mine

As I roll on through the years I realise life’s a funny kind of game
From a clear blue sky a lightning bolt can shake us from our hypnotic daze
And in that blinding moment, we can see again and the small stuff fades away
At the end of the day, Love is all that matters, from the cradle to the grave

All we need is some perspective
A little space and time
See things from a different place
I’ll step in your shoes, you take mine
