Surround me with trees
Surround me with trees

Why stay here, when a place in the desert would do
I can live out my hollow existence anywhere
Don’t need to be near my family and
Won’t be missed by yours
Little shack in the middle of the hillside

Surround me, with trees
Just me and my dogs
The cicadas and the birds
All the sounds of the bush ringing true

Just got to get through this life alive
Got to get through each day
Tell myself it was all worthwhile
When I lay close to death
Whose ear will I whisper into?

You can’t see the colors deep down in the ocean
Because there is no light
I guess that’s why it’s hard to imagine
What life might have been like
I’ve got to get far, far away

Where I can’t hear the school bell ring
Where I can’t hear the sounds of the playground
Or the children when they sing
