Sitting in the Dandelions
Sitting in the Dandelions
-words and music by Sand Sheff
Sitting in the dandelions; She was sad but wasn't crying
Coming up with words to try and tell me goodbye.
A pretty little summer's day; I don't remember what she had to say;
But I remember blowing dandelion seeds to the sky.
Then she stood up and away she turned ; and my heart and my eyes they
Burned visions into my memories.
I remember thinking “ What do you know?, it feels just like a movie show
There aint nobody watching but me.”
Another goodbye is coming fast; brother let's turn up the past.
Let it skip and scratch and cry like Dad's old records would do.
The picture on the fridge is worn. You got your soldier boots and uniform.
Laughing at fate, who knows; maybe Fate's laughing too.
You got your ticket you can go now, that slow train is pulling round;
and I believe in where it's taking you to.
But They say that life's last surprise, is to flash right before your eyes;
and there aint nobody watching but you.
Where's the beauties from the bygone days?
Where's my brother of this lost parade?
Where's my moonlit maiden in her blue Chevrolet?
There's just a necklace made of dandelions, a toy soldier, and some lonely rhymes-
I found beside a song that's almost too hard to play.
I guess we're on our own, now. Same Face but a different crowd.
What binds are just old used-to-be's.
I can't seem to let 'em go, so, I'll just play that old movie show-
aint nobody watching but me.
