An Old Gray Stone
On an old gray stone
When I pass away
Someone will chisel
Out my name
Such a short life
So little space
On an old gray stone
What will it say?
Here lies a good man
Wouldn’t be enough
About how I lived
And who I loved
They’ll place one at
The top of my grave
An old gray stone
What will it say
Will it just be my name
Just dates inside a frame
Such a short life
So little space
On an old gray stone
What will it say?
I’ve done some good
I’ve had some faults
But in the end
Don’t we all
I try to give
More than I take
On an old gray stone
What will it say?
And I hope when I go
I leave more than just this stone
Such a short life
So little space
On an old gray stone
What will it say?
We live a short a short life
then they carve our names
On an old gray stone
What will it say?
