Heaven On Earth
It was the Fourth of July, the hottest part of the day
Back in the summer of ’69
When you walked down the street you could hear people talking
Talk about a changing of the times
Talk about peace on earth, good will toward men
But, my heaven on earth was never gonna come again

That summer sun set into a cool October sky
The kind of night when life begins anew
We made a plans and we made a lot of love
Just two kids alone in a Texas moon
We talked about peace on earth, good will toward men
And my heaven on earth was back in my arms again

I know all about salvation
I know all about judgment day
I know all about winning and losing
How it comes and how it gets away
You’re my heaven on earth, never go away

Now it’s the middle of December, the coldest part of the day
So many years have come and gone
When you walk down the street you never hear anybody talkin’
about any change that’s gonna come
No talk about peace on earth or good will toward men
But every night I’m back in heaven again

I know all about salvation
I know all about judgment day
I know all about winning and losing
How it comes and how it gets away
You’re my heaven on earth, never go away
