Woody was furloughed from the hospital where he was a patient so he could attend a fundraising concert in New York for Sing Out magazine. Although unable to sing, Guthrie stood and waved from his balcony box seat to the audience and performers below, who sang "This Land is Your Land" to him again and again, letting him know his song had become part of our musical heritage.
