Love and Shame

Took a life time to build it up
And but a moment to torch the place down
Turn our heads when she gets stuck
Still surprised when there's no one around

We were burning torches at both ends
so we welcomed the darkness
said wed part as closer friends
Now like the strangers among us

Oh hell
I can explain how it all went wrong
Do tell
Lay the blame on somebody else
How you were pushed to the wall
Left in the cold
And bleeding out
You were found in the muck
Without any clothes
And screaming out
All the while calling her name in vain
Love and shame

Live and learn it'll turn around
there are those who will never play fair
Some of us choose to never get out
Some don't know that they are there
