This Night of Peace

A wreath. A tree. And mistletoe
Candle light in the window
Joyous cards from folks we know.
Presents wrapped in fancy bows.

Smoke in the chimney,
Snow on the ground.
Carols ringing and joy all around.
Tonight the world is all a glow.
Warmth and goodness overflow.
May our hearts be filled with cheer,
To last all through the year

This is that wonderful time of the year
When families like to meet
and old friends greet
And kids all over the world suddenly become
so thoughtful and sweet.

It's that special celebration
when the gift of love is given and received.
Hearts think of peace, trouble sleeps.

It began in days of old.
The greatest story ever told.
Let us praise
this night of peace.
Known to all
as Christmas Eve.
