Biography
Numinous have always resisted jumping on bandwagons, doing their own thing even when it would be easier to fall in line with the latest short-lived trend. Incorporating elements of funk, jazz, and even indie into all out rock guitars and melodic (even choral) vocals, the 4 piece balance pushing boundaries and bringing people with them in equal measure. The result is something altogether different yet strangely contemporary at the same time.
The band started as the brainchild of two brothers, Steve and Gareth Gilkeson. Having studied music composition at university and had experience of writing and producing local rock and dance music, Gareth brings more to the outfit than just his unconventional Latin/funk influenced rock drumming. Steve has been writing songs longer than he can remember, and balances Gareth's offbeat drumming with strong all round songwriting, and an intriguing combination of serene clean and driving rock guitars.
Steve has a background in English ensuring well-crafted, poetic and arresting lyrics.
When the two brothers heard Gareth Dunlop's unique, soulful and gravel-rich voice one Saturday night in a pub beside the Irish Sea, they knew they had found the vocals they needed. They barely noticed the rain, hail and wind walking home that night as they excitedly discussed how to ensnare and exploit this young man and his talent. He was at first reluctant as he really enjoyed singing soulless covers for little money, but eventually gave in when Steve told him he would probably remain equally poor and unnoticed for some time to come. Gareth has a background in music performance and technology, coupled with a well-gigged voice and considerable songwriting skills.
Having built up a sizeable following locally and in Dublin the band have been gigging successfully around Ireland as a whole and receiving a good deal of radioplay to boot for around 2 years now.
Numinous recently just finished their latest EP with Producer and engineer Matt Hyde who has recently worked with Trivium, Razorlight and Funeral for a Friend. Hailed as "one to watch in 2006" by the well respected local music journalist Stu Bailey Numinous certainly are a band tipped for bigger things as they aim to challenge the prevailing mind-set, constantly better themselves, and encourage others to do the same.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
