Sunnyside
We hung her ballet slippers on a telephone wire
And the toes were pointed down
Every time the wind blew they would swing
She danced like no one was watching her when her world would spin around
She never knew the joy that it would bring

We couldn’t look away
As the the wind made them sway
Memories are too quick to fade

We left her on the sunny side of town
We all watched as this old world brought her down
Now we’re left here standing as we lay her in the ground
We left her on the sunny side of town

She had fire in her eyes but she was always looking down
She’d look up at times, look straight into your mind
Be careful with your words, she would see right through a lie
She danced like there was nothing left to hide

We couldn’t look away
It's like she danced to heal the pain
Something words were just not good enough to say

We left her on the sunny side of town
We all watched as this old world brought her down
Now we’re left here standing as we lay her in the ground
We left her on the sunny side of town

She just did what she was born to
danced until her slippers’ were worn through

We couldn’t look away
As the the wind made them sway
Memories are too quick to fade
