Biography
Who ever invented the “box” that most artists find themselves cast in, never heard of Couleen LaGon. This ATLien is writing and producing music that inspires and makes you want to feel. Being blues at the core, this gumbo of a musical journey is also part pop, part rock, and sprinkled with country, rap and dance music.
“I know that my mission is to inspire the people and help lift that monkey off their back”.
Couleen thinks of himself as a healer, and believes that his music is his vessel to reach the world and set the captives free. Inspired by such bands as Radiohead, Nirvana, The Who, N.W.A., Crosby Stilly & Nash, Earth Wind & Fire, Zero-7 and the Beetles, he also was heavily influenced by the bass music on the airwaves in Atlanta that took over rap music in the late 80’s and early 90’s. As a producer, an artist he developed was discovered by Cee-Lo Green, who later signed Couleen LaGon to a production deal with his Radiculture Records label imprint under his pseudo-name “Skot Free”. He went on to place music in film, television, and even the single “Superbad” by Diamond (feat. Cee-Lo) and found rotation on MTV. But even with those successes, his true expression was found only in solitude. As he crafted his genre defying debut album, “Delivery System” over the years he has been producing other artists, Mr. LaGon has found himself ready to give the world what God has given him, a message of freedom from bondage, and music to shake your booty to.
