Good Man Down
The first shot turned his windshield to a waterfall of glass
It seemed like an hour as the next two minutes passed
Dispatchers on the radio at the station house downtown
Said send out the word, there's a good man down

He thought back to the words they said when he left their home that night
Like a hundred times before it had ended with a fight
Cause she's afraid he won't come back from the deadly side of town
She's afraid someday they'll say he's the good man down

They don't ask no questions when they're called
Its a little bit safer town every night cause they make their rounds
But somewhere there's a good man down

No one wants to lend a hand
He's all alone in a no-man's land---- a mile from home

He hears the sirens from behind as the flashers cut the night
And like the brothers he never had, his partners join the fight
Its all for one, and one for all, when a good man's on the line
Its code four and the danger's past, and he's made it one more time

They don't ask no questions when they're called
Its a little bit safer town every night cause they make their rounds
But somewhere there's a good man down
Somewhere there's a good man down
