Melton & Miller Music is excited to announce the release of 'Broke Down in Arkansas', a new single from Missy Armstrong.
Written by Cindy Baucom, Beth Husband, and Milan Miller, the song is set against the backdrop of a minor key and mid-tempo groove, and offers a tale of dreams dying hard alongside a lonesome stretch of interstate. Missy says, “Broke Down in Arkansas' is one of those songs that I connected with right away. There are so many phrases that paint such a vivid picture. I am so grateful that in its journey this song made its way to me. The songwriting and musicianship of the entire group are out of this world.”
In addition to Missy’s stellar singing, the track features Noam Pikelny (Banjo), Seth Taylor (Mandolin), Aubrey Haynie (Fiddle), Milan Miller (Guitar, Harmony Vocal), and Buddy Melton (Upright Bass, Harmony Vocal).
The bluegrass world was first introduced to Missy’s voice through her work with the Michigan-based band Detour. With songs like 'Too Blue to Have the Blues', 'Lovin’ Liza Jane', and 'Quarterline Road', listeners and long-time industry professionals alike became instant fans. Earlier this year, Missy’s debut solo single 'Ain’t Going Down to the River' has spent fourteen weeks and counting in the top ten on the Bluegrass Today airplay charts, including two weeks at number one, and was the most played song during April 2019.
