Hey Gypsy Daddy
I met Clay Farmer at a writers night at the Outlaw Saloon in Lyons, CO. A singer/songwriter from Houston, we began chatting over beers. He told me how he was voted Houston’s number one country local act and opened for folks like Jewel and Lyle Lovett. I asked him why he was in CO. He then introduced me to his girlfriend who was six months pregnant. We got to know each other pretty well, drinking and playing gigs together. After his baby girl was born I moved to TX, and they got married. Soon after that they broke up, completely took him by surprise, devastated he moved back to Houston to make a living doing the only thing he knows best, playing music. When I told him I wrote a song about him, his only request was I make sure and mention his ‘booger bear’. I did so proudly in the last verse!
