She's A Mountain Girl
Has an Eagles/Fleetwood Mac feel to it.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG: I knew this woman who worked as a waitress in a tavern at 9,300 feet called the Millsite Inn in Ward CO. She was the spitting image of Joni Mitchell. Her name was Peg. She loved Native American art and music. An artist herself she carved Kachina dolls out of wood. She told me once about being in a physically abusive relationship with a guy who lived under the radar from the law. One time they hid away in a cave in the mountains for a few months. She told me about her attempts to escape from him and how scared she was because he would always find her. She always felt the native spirits helped protect her and eventually she did leave him. Her stories were so powerful I wrote this song for her. I got to play it for her and she cried. Sadly she passed away last year and I was able to get a copy of this song to the folks who gathered for her and play it at her wake up in the mountains!
