US12 to Highway 49
Born in the north, between the big lakes
Worked for years, to find out what it takes
Made lots of bad moves, but I had to keep on trying
To get from US 12, to Highway 49

Listened to rock and Motown, then found WLAC
The songs of Wolf and Muddy they set my spirit free
I listened and I followed, and it took me all that time
To get from US 12 to Highway 49

For 40 years I wandered, looking for what was real
Always knowing that I loved the way that music made me feel
I moved across the ocean, lived from sea to shinin sea
But those voices from the Delta, they kept callin out to me

Wearing out my fingers and opening my mind
Unlearning what I thought I knew, I let my soul unwind
Didn’t know if I could do it, but Finally made it mine
I moved from US 12 to Highway 49
