Trout Don't Live in Ugly Places (Milan Miller)
Trout Don’t Live in Ugly Places

I’m no good with a rod and reel
I just like the way I feel
When I cast a line- in a mountain breeze
Wading through the water in my rubber boots
The rocks and the ripples are in cahoots
With the clouds- and the trees
Trading city smog for a little river fog
Finding perfect peace in catch and release

Cause trout don’t live in ugly places
Hang around in office spaces
Fight with traffic- on a daily basis
Spend their time with head cases
Or danged ol’ numbers in databases
One of this world’s greatest graces
Is trout don’t live- in ugly places

There might be days when I never get a nibble
But I don’t care or ever need to quibble
Over hooks, knots and nymphs
Where the creek is clear and the air is fresher
I found the cure for my blood pressure
All it takes- is just one glimpse
Midges and mayflies and mystic mountain highs
Help to drown the dread and clear out my head

Cause trout don’t live in ugly places
Hang around in office spaces
Fight with traffic- on a daily basis
Spend their time with head cases
Or danged ol’ numbers in databases
One of this world’s greatest graces
Is trout don’t live- in ugly places

You might question the brains of a fish
But nowadays I dream and wish
That someway I could be- half as wise
In matters of the market and real estate
It’s hard to even estimate
Or appraise the space between the stream and skies

Cause trout don’t live in ugly places
Hang around in office spaces
Fight with traffic- on a daily basis
Spend their time with head cases
Or danged ol’ numbers in databases
One of this world’s greatest graces
Is trout don’t live- in ugly places
