Horse Lover
Grass hay’s six bucks a bale now, bagged feed is up again,
but beans and ramen noodles are the same. The shoers wantin’ cash now and grass is getting’ thin,
but the pastures startin’ back now from that rain.
Payments aren’t too bad on my fancy two-horse slant,
Sure is dandy haulin’ to the trail.
I’m livin’ in a single-wide to afford the things I can’t.
Just found another vet bill in the mail.
I’m holdin’ on to the end of my rope.
As long as I’ve got horses, I’ve got hope.
‘Cause I’ve got one of the hearts that don’t beat to a drummer,
it just gallops along ‘cause I’m a horse lover!
Horse lover. I am a throw-your-leg-over, Horse Lover!
It’s a beautiful affliction, a dangerous addiction,
but judge me not ‘cause it ain’t my fault.
My momma did say that I was born this way.
Didn’t take long to discover that I’m a Horse Lover!
I thank Heaven above for puttin’ horses in my heart, ‘cause horses keep livin’ the
way I like.
My equine therapy is all I need and I wouldn’t trade it for any other life
When I see that honest look in warm, brown liquid eyes,
and I hear “Good Mornin’” nickered from my friend.
I know I done right to make the sacrifice and in a heartbeat, I’d do it all again.
I am a certifiably, undeniably, won’t-recover, Horse Lover!
Can I hear an “Amen?”
