Biography
"There are people that enter your life and you recognize whether they play an instrument, sing a song, or write one. The one thing you hear and understand in that music is that they have been blessed with a gift from the Lord. As you give ear to Marvin Clark's music, you will hear melodies and vocal lines that will carry you through the theater of your mind, painting you a picture clear enough to see yourself in it."
- Marty Raybon, Lead vocalist of Shenandoah

Marvin Clark was born and raised in southeastern Ohio and has raised his own family just a few miles from the old home place. Along with wife Deana, they brought up four daughters, and traveled the States for over twenty years singing at churches, fairs, and festivals as the Marvin & Deana Clark Family. Since September of 2000, they have owned and produced the ever popular country music variety show Ohio Valley Opry, where local, regional, and national artist perform monthly.
Marvin wrote every song on the first family album entitled "Tear Down The Wall" in 1990 and has continued to hone the skill of songwriting from that time. Over the years the genres chosen have mostly been Country, Country Gospel and Bluegrass. Although Marvin has written a good part of the songs on the family projects, most of his success as a writer has been in the bluegrass arena.
In 2008 Marvin got his first big writing break with two songs on the Lonesome River Bands "No Turning Back" album. The first song entitled "Like A Train Needs A Track" co-written with Nashville writer Jerry Salley went to # 11 on the Bluegrass Unlimited charts. The second song, "One Little Teardrop" saw little charting action but is a favorite bluegrass jam and cover song worldwide.
2010 yielded "Record Time Machine" for LRB's "I'm Still Learning" project and stayed in the top 30 Bluegrass Charts for twelve months and was # 2 for two months in a row. The second song was called "Telling Me You Love Me Again". Sammy Shelor of LRB says it's one of his favorite bluegrass songs of all time.
These two albums started a list of more than a dozen cuts by artists and groups from all over the USA. Marvin always gives God the glory for any success, quoting "There are good songs, and there are God songs. The kind that come from His thoughts to my hand. Those are the best" Marvin wrote a song entitled "Holding To The Right Hand" that he says is one of "those songs". In 2015 it was nominated bluegrass gospel song of the year by IBMA.
This latest album entitled "Life Love & Faith" is a solo effort with his wife and four daughters doing most of the background vocals. It is a collection of songs that Marvin has written over the past twenty years or so, and each song is either inspired from a real life experience, a real love experience, or a truth from God's word.
