Biography

Growing up as a youth in the Northeast, Bayside Queens New York was home. Mark was originally drawn to country music. Artists like Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash were very early influences on him. The Beatles were also a major influence on his songwriting. Guitar players like Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen , Shawn Lane, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen and countless others opened up another door to the possibilities of the guitar as an expressive instrument. As Mark has been quoted as saying “The efficiency of a concise song format to communicate to the listener is a thing of beauty. The song is the focal point. Vocals and vocal harmonies along with some appropriate guitar playing are essential elements for me that can be expressed in a concise song format”. After playing for some years in cover bands Mark decided that it was time to start concentrating on his songwriting and began to write songs that allowed him to combine singing and playing guitar to create his own musical identity. He also took an interest in the technical side of the recording process and now records all of his music in his home recording studio, truly embracing the indie side of the music business and the endless possibilities for an artist. For now Mark’s live performances are unplugged versions of his fully produced songs. He says “All of the songs I write are written on the acoustic guitar. No matter how the songs are produced for the CD they are born from just a guitar and a thought. Performing my songs in their original form for the audience is a very intimate form of expression”. Mark’s latest form of expression is his CD called “Sometimes” released in 2012.
