Just an Ordinary Day

Just an ordinary day
We sat down to pray
Her tiny head was bowed to say

Thank you Jesus for my mommy
Thank you Jesus for my daddy
Thank you Jesus for this food we have today
Thank you Jesus for loving me

Two working people trying to make a loving home
A mom and a dad with two kids of their own
It's off to work and off to school we're rushing all day long
Just to have a house eat a meal and keep the lights turned on

With all this hasty living it's easy to forget
The One who died on the cross to give us all we have
But when a child of four turns to you and says, "Mommy can we pray"
That was all it took to bring her mom back to the cross that day

Thank you Jesus for my mommy
Thank you Jesus for my daddy
Thank you Jesus for this food we have today
Thank you Jesus for loving me
