"The Bristol Stomp" co-written by Kal Mann and Dave Appell and recorded by the Dovells peaked at #1 in Cashbox Magazine and #2 in Billboard on September 18th, 1961. Dave also produced and engineered the recording at the Cameo/Parkway Studios in Philadelphia.
"Let's Twist Again" recorded by Chubby Checker and co-written by Mann and Appell peaked at #8 on the Billboard Charts July 3rd, 1961 after 9 weeks. The song re-entered the Billboard Charts at #22 on November 20th, 1961.
"Don't Hang Up" reached #4 in Billboard on November 3rd, 1962. Co-written by Mann and Appell, recorded by The Orlons who followed with a string of Mann/Appell hit songs. This song was featured in a national television commerical in 2009.
"Limbo Rock" was originally the B side of Popeye (The Hitchhiker) which also charted after this record was flipped over by the disc jockeys and reached #2 on the Billboard Charts September 29th, 1962 and earned a Gold Record with sales in excess of one million copies. Co-written by Mann/Appell and produced by Dave.
"Wild One", recorded by Bobby Rydell, co-written by Kal Mann, Bernie Lowe and Dave Appell reached #2 in Billboard Magazine on February 8th, 1960 and sold over one million copies earning a Gold Record.
"Rocka Conga" was recorded by Dave Appell and The Applejacks who were a studio band at the time. The song co-written by Mann and Appell reached #38 in Billboard on January 12th, 1959. The early pressing of the records listed the title as Rocka Tango and then was corrected by Cameo Records.
"Mashed Potatos" was a gold record for Dee Dee Sharp and peaked in Billboard at #2 on March 17th, 1962. Mann and Appell co- wrote the follow up "Gravy For My Mashed Potatos" which was also charted in Billboard later that year.
"South Street" recorded by The Orlons peaked in Billboard at #3 on March 2nd, 1963. This classic song co-written by Kal Mann-Bernie Lowe and Dave Appell is still being played around the world on oldies fomats.
"Swinging School" recorded by the great Bobby Rydell reached #5 on the Billboard Charts on May 16th, 1960. This song was also co-written by Mann, Lowe and Appell.
"The Wah Watusi" co-written by Mann and Appell and recorded by The Orlons peaked at #2 in Billboard on June 23rd, 1962.
"(Do The New) Continental" recorded by The Dovells was the follow up to the Bristol Stomp. This song also co-written by Mann and Appell reached #37 on the Billboard Charts on March 3rd, 1961. The group also recorded other Mann and Appell songs including Hully Gully Baby which also charted. One of their biggest hits "You Can't Sit Down" was one of the only songs they recorded that wasn't a Mann/Appell composition.
"Mexican Hat Rock" was an adaptation of a 1919 song titled "Mexican Hat Dance". Dave Appell and The Appelljacks reached #16 in Billboard with this record on October 10th, 1958.
