One day a man was walking on the road to Jericho
When some robbers stopped him and took all that he owned
Stripped him of his garments, beat him till he cried
When their evil work was done, they left him there to die

A priest and a Levite saw him lying there
But offered no assistance, and went right on their way
Then a good Samaritan who came upon the scene
Took pity on this helpless soul in his time of need

No he just turned away
Did the priest show God’s mercy?
No, no he did the same
Who showed some compassion, and lent a helping hand?
It was an act of kindness by the good Samaritan

The road that leads to heaven where the Saints abide
Is paved with all our good deeds in this mortal life
Show a little kindness towards your fellow man
Follow the example of that Good Samaritan
