Biography
Lolita Chambers Lamkin is a singer/songwriter & actress from Annapolis, MD.  Her work is inspirational, contemporary Christian/gospel with elements of R&B, hip-hop and jazz.  Lolita is also known for her dynamic soprano voice and her spectacular vocal range, which soon will become one of her trademarks.  In her natural voice, Lolita is able to sing 4 octaves above F below middle C, prompting a comparison to the likes of: Sandi Patti, Minnie Riperton and Deniece Williams who all have influenced Lolita tremendously.

The third of four siblings, Lolita began singing at church at an early age.  Her parents (Carroll Chambers a music connoisseur, Dr. Delores Chambers a middle school principal) noticed the talents of their young daughter and began to expose her to different genres of music and the performing arts. Lolita started writing songs in her early teens. With both parents as support, she began to audition and land lead roles for various musicals and plays throughout the community and region.

Upon graduating from Annapolis Senior High School, Lolita went on to study theater at the historically black college Texas Southern University.  In 1985 she became Miss T.S.U. Concentrating on her studies full-time, she graduated with a Bachelor of Art Degree in Theater Cinema & Speech Communications.

After graduating from T.S.U., Lolita returned to Maryland working various jobs and recording on local artists studio projects. While still writing original music, Lolita started working on a self-financed album, which she never finished.

In 1994, Lolita put her music on hold and returned to school at Cambridge College (Boston Ma.) where she received her Masters of Education Degree.

By 2001, Lolita moved back to her hometown of Annapolis Md.  She began teaching Algebra for Anne Arundel County Public Schools.  She started back singing with Mt. Olive AME Church Choir, One Accord Gospel Choir and The Annapolis Mass Choir.

In 2006 Lolita’s health had taken a sudden turn for the worst.  She began to channel all of her time, thoughts, energy and emotions, back into her songwriting, with her sister Kokita Chambers as Executive Producer.

The result is a wonderful collaboration between Lolita and husband(John R. Lamkin III - Producer): “Think On These Things.”  Lolita’s spiritual journey has been the catalyst that has held her together throughout this seemingly lengthy incubation period. She is a vessel of God’s love and she sings effortlessly about His awesome power in her life.
