Cochetopa
Daylight will bring, soft petaled spring
When the elk have all gone past the Cochetopa
And all that we know is covered in snow
And the robins wait patiently

Fly on these wings , soft by the stream
Take the river and fire below
Silver and gold, and the old copper tones
Of the arnica, shine like the sun

And now you will know, every time that it snows
A whisper grows steady in the wind
And only us on the road at dawn
We were singing old dusty songs
Singin’ “mmmm - mm - mmmmm”

Daylight will bring , soft petalled spring
When the elk have all gone past the Cochetopa
And fire will burn, every breath that we earn
For the spring time within
The spring time within

Daylight will bring, soft petalled spring
When the elk have all gone past the Cochetopa
And all that we know, is covered in snow
Squandered are our words
The sweet song of birds
