Don't Bury This Bible with Me
Writer: Donna Ulisse

She left me a box of things she once loved
I waited a long time to open it up
I knew it would bring me down to my knees
Cause it held what was left of her sweet memories

A plaid cotton blanket, an old string of pearls
A black and white photo when she was a girl
But a square of white leather is when my heart broke
For it brought back the sound of the last words she spoke

Don't bury this bible with me
Cause I'll be where I can hear my Savior speak
It's the dearest and best, my soul legacy
You can keep it, don't bury this bible with me
Girl, you can keep it, don't bury this bible with me

She lived by the gospel, grandma read em out loud
From the leather bound book that I'm holdin' now
She'd tell me her strength came straight from The Word
And she'd ask me to leave her good book on this earth

Don't bury this bible with me
Cause I'll be where I can hear my Savior speak
It's the dearest and best, my soul legacy
You can keep it, don't bury this bible with me
Girl, you can keep it, don't bury this bible with me
