Biography
“‘Taylor Made’ ranks as one of the best contemporary mainstream recordings.” – The Jazz Mann (UK)

"Hamilton's trademark tone is breathy, soft, almost whispered at times. While it has something in common with Chet Baker, in terms of contemporary horn players it sits more comfortably with European musicians such as Till Brönner. Taylor Made is a delight: full of warmth, swing and melody." – All About Jazz (USA)

“Linley Hamilton’s album ‘Taylor Made’ is outstanding, his passion for his art form is almost overwhelming. ‘Taylor Made’ features beautifully lyrical trumpet playing and wonderfully cohesive ensemble playing from his quartet.” – Irish News

“Linley Hamilton and Johnny Taylor’s mastery of the mainstream idiom makes for an impressively well executed album with some unusual choices of repertoire.” – Irish Times

Acclaimed Ulster Trumpeter Linley Hamilton, releases his brand new album ‘Taylor Made’ on LYTE Records. A talented and versatile performer, Linley has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Van Morrison, Foy Vance, Jacqui Dankworth, Jean Toussaint, Paul Brady and The Commitments.

‘Taylor Made’ brings together a strong line-up of hand picked musicians with an eclectic taste in jazz and a combined love for these songs, the result is a truly soulful, and uplifting experience.

The album is called ‘Taylor Made’ for a reason … pianist Johnny Taylor has brought so much of himself to the arrangements and the creation of the whole vibe of the album that Hamilton felt duty bound to extend the highest accolade of naming the album after him! Taylor is joined in a rhythm section team by Dublin based American bassist Dan Bodwell and drummer Dominic Mullan who themselves weave patterns that knit the music together and unleash an uplifting spirit that seems to prevail on every track.

Linley Hamilton, is a recent recipient of a 1st Class Masters in Jazz Performance, and is currently studying for a PhD in Jazz, as well as hosting his popular Radio Show on BBC Radio Ulster, After Midnight with Linley Hamilton.

Linley is at the forefront of a blossoming Ulster jazz scene, which includes guitarist, Mark McKnight and fellow label artist, Andreas Varady on David Lyttle's, Record Label Lyte Records (www.lyterecords.com).
