The wait is finally over as Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road release their highly anticipated sophomore album, Yellow Line. Available today via Pinecastle Records, the collection includes a total of 12 new recordings which all showcase members Purcell, Colton Kerchner, Rob McCormac, Jacob Smith, along with Sam Stage.

Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road have been turning heads in the Bluegrass world for years. After the release of their debut album Roots - released in 2020, they were officially dubbed “the future of Bluegrass” by No Depression and were named Momentum “Band Of The Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Following the win, Purcell entered the Rockygrass Instrumental Championships in 2022, where he became the first person to win in the guitar, mandolin and banjo categories all in the same year. It created the perfect storm for what was to come.

Fast forward to 2023, and the band released “Crooked As You Go,” which was the lead single from Yellow Line. It quickly became a huge hit at radio, securing massive airplay on both terrestrial radio and SiriusXM’s Bluegrass Junction. Following up on that success they released “Homesick For Virginia” earlier this year, which includes lead vocals from Cane Mill Road member Colton Kerchner. It received critical praise across the board, being featured in publications like Vents Magazine, The Bluegrass Situation, Bluegrass Today, The Hollywood Digest and Fame Magazine. The latter complimented the tune by saying, “This successful musical partnership shows no signs of exhausting its potential any time soon and the latest effort likewise illustrates the considerable life left in this style of music.”

To celebrate the release, the band is also excited to announce the next single will be the hard-hitting anthem, “Yellow Line.” It was written solely by Purcell, and the soon-to-be Berklee College of Music graduate also sings lead. Its message revolves around going on a journey in search of something bigger and better. It’s one of many songs that fans can expect to hear from the band when they hit the road in support of the new project. The North Carolina native is set to graduate next month and the group has plans to transition to touring full-time. It’s a must-see show that highlights the very best in Bluegrass by showcasing the future.
