INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SONG:

Sometimes the greatest joy and sense of gratitude, the greatest sense of peace and that "everything is going to be O.K." feeling, comes from going through the storm, the darkness and the times of confusion, only to emerge on the other side "victorious" and on solid ground again.

Through this albums creative journey, I experienced some low lows and some true moments of joy, but it was the moments of sadness that inspired this song.

Walking around the neighbourhood I was visiting on holidays one winter, there, all around me...roses were blooming and it was January. I was struck by how in most parts of the country roses were long gone, but here they were still blooming beautifully. This contrast made me realize that reality depends upon where you are and what you are seeing, that it's perspective that makes the differance.

It occurred to me that sometimes "nothing has to change" in order for us to be happy, but that maybe we can find a sense of peace if we change the way see things. It's definately easier said than done, and there are hardships that people are living, that are far too painful for me to even imagine, but it is my sincerest hope that perhaps you can heal some of your pain, brighten your day, find some glimmer of joy, no matter how small, that makes it all seem a little better in some way and allows you to see the "roses" in your life...

With peace and gratitude, Leila
