CAROLINA
Born in a small town. Two bedroom rundown house. Back in the woods of Carolina. Mom did all she could to raise me right underneath that roof with her Bible in her lap singing hallelujah. Daddy work night and day bringing home a Cabdrivers pay. Making enough to barely feed us. We were poor but I didn’t know but oh how I love them so. They used to look at me and say.

Girl you’re going to go so far but don’t forget who you are. Don’t let this world ever change ya. Do you know there’s gonna come a day when you look back and say. I’m proud to be from Carolina.

Looking back how I was raised. I wouldn’t change one single thing cause it made me who I am. Mom told me to praise the Lord and daddy taught me three simple chords and with a capo I can play most anything. The bright lights hadn’t changed my Ways but sometimes I still miss those days. When dad and mom were all I had. I sure wish I had them here just one more time whispering in my ear. I can almost hear them say.

Tonight I’m on this Opry stage I can almost see my daddy‘s face. Proud of his girl from Carolina.
