2. Dr. Keith Strathspey / Miss Barker’s Hornpipe / Carney’s Canter
Dr. Keith Strathspey was composed by renowned Scottish fiddler James Scott Skinner (1843-1927); I learned it - and “Carney’s Canter” - from Kenny Chaisson of Bear River. Miss Barker’s Hornpipe is a late 19th century North American tune, appearing in 1000 Fiddle Tunes, and re-popularized in the 1980s by Cape Breton Fiddler Jerry Holland. The super-exciting reel, Carney’s Canter is in James Scott Skinner’s Miller O’Hirn Collection (1881). (Keys: F/F-modal/F)
