Yesterday's Dream
Yesterday’s Dream
Ridin’ on my motorcycle singin’ a song
That reminded me the first time ever tried to get it on
I was entertainin’ royalty, the queen of the mezzanine
“See Me, Feel Me” was the name of the game
Tryin’ to get my arm around her, whisperin’ her name
She was a pretty little Kitty in the city of yesterday’s dream
Grabbed that little girl, kissed her on the cheek
Got so damn elated that I couldn’t even speak
I let my fingers do the walkin and the talkin if you know what I mean
Wasn’t sure what I was feelin’ but feelin’ mighty fine
Not sure what she was feelin’, what was goin’ through her mind
My pretty little Kitty in the city of yesterday’s dream
Rememberin’ the first time that I held her in my arms
It seems like it just happened yesterday
The lights were down the heat was up and so was my desire
That Junior High dance to me was goin’ all the way
We were dancin’ ear to ear it was my “Stairway to Heaven”
Walkin’ in the moonlight, ‘til quarter to eleven
With my pretty little Kitty in the city of yesterday’s dream
Talkin’ on the phone to my perfect future wife
Thought we were goin’ steady for the rest of my life
What more did I need than a teenage “Dancin’ Queen”
Then one day it happened, she wouldn’t take my calls
She told me it was over as she passed me in the hall
I lost my pretty little Kitty in the city of yesterday’s dream
Rememberin’ the last time I held her hand in mine
Seems like it just happened yesterday
That carnival Ferris wheel, the circle of time
The whole thing rings like a surreal holiday
We were “Takin Care of Business” to the best of our ability
I treasure what she gave me and I keep alive the memory
Pretty little Kitty in the city of yesterday’s dream
She was a pretty little Kitty in the city of yesterday’s dream
My pretty little Kitty in the city of yesterday’s dream
