Black River Cabin
Black River Cabin
Built by a preacher
In 1943
Held up by the arms of Jesus
And the love of our family
From the Millers Woods crossing
To the dam at Hawkensville
Browns troll the waters
Of the dark and muddy kill
In the thunderstorm
I will remember you
And when the sun shines
It’ll take me back to my Black River cabin home
Gathered ‘round the fire
With my sisters and my brother
Sharing childhood memories
With one another
Cabin’s getting older
Pray it don’t fall down
While I’m living half a world away
Longing for my old home town
In the thunderstorm
I will remember you
And when the sun shines
It’ll take me back to my Black River cabin home
Who will mend the cabin walls
When the folks are gone
I could give up this city life
And make that cabin my home
