The Son is Always With Me in the Mine
There were four rows of old camp houses
That's where the miners came when a hard day's work was through
You could see their lights shining when they came down the road
They came in after dawn and left before the dark
See they never saw the sun til Sunday
But my daddy said the Son was with him every day
He'd say there are things I take down with me
And things I leave behind
But the Son is always with me in the mine
We would go to church on Sunday
That's where we learned there was only one way
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Light
And all those old hymns, we sang along
Oh, those old songs are the most beautiful ones
We would sing about Jesus being the light of the world
See they never saw the sun til Sunday
But my daddy said the Son was with him every day
He'd say there are things I take down with me
And things I leave behind
But the Son is always with me in the mine
Well, I remember one dark and cloudy day
When some of the miners went away
I'd never seen so many get on their knees and pray
Then I heard my mama shout, from the mines my daddy came out
Mama said "the Son has shined on you today"
See they never saw the sun til Sunday
But my daddy said "The Son was with me every day"
He'd say there are things I take down with me
And things I leave behind
But the Son is always with me in the mine
The Son is always with me in the mine
Oh, the Son is always with me in the mine
