After Our Fall
After Our Fall
by David Sasso and Ken McEwen

Laying at Boothe, in the bright sun
The smell of roses that made us one,
Gravel trails, petals below,
Linger till evening, twilight glow.

Writing our song took thirty-some years,
So much laughter, so many beers.
When did it start to crumble and fall,
Tumbling down, Jericho’s wall?

Why does it take so long
To get through the love I had for you?
It’s been some time since we sang our song,
I still catch myself dreaming of you,
I still catch myself dreaming of you.

I had to let go, let go of it all,
Move forward after our fall.
It didn’t feel right to go on with the hurt
We were both going through.

Went back to Boothe, leaves start to fall,
Roses now thorns, the end of it all.
Gravel trails bare, petals all gone,
Tears in the car, how to move on?

Why does it take so long
To get through the love I had for you?
It’s been some time since we sang our song,
I still catch myself dreaming of you,
I still catch myself dreaming of you.
