Biography

“Katie McGarry possesses the one thing that anyone in her position needs; she has a voice that drips out of the speakers like warm sweet honey. She has the kind of voice that could come out of a radio anytime in the past sixty years; it is not out of time, just timeless.” - Americana UK

Katie McGarry is a relative newcomer to the music scene on the East Coast. Make no mistake, having grown up in a musical family, this talented 22-year-old is ready to stake a claim to a place in the rich history and tradition of East Coast singer/songwriters that have made their mark in the music business.

Growing up in Belfast, PEI, music became a way for Katie to express her thoughts and views of the world she experienced. Like many young Island performers, she began playing music and singing in church and at community benefits. At 18, she started writing and performing her original songs wherever there was an opportunity to perform. The positive response to those early performances created a confidence and belief in Katie that she just might have a future in music.

Katie officially showcased at ECMA 2011 in Charlottetown. She also performed at the Music Mosaic showcase and the “Live Tonight” showcase as part of Music PEI week in January 2011. She was also the 2011 recipient of the bursary awarded annually to an up and coming PEI female singer/songwriter at the Music PEI awards. In February 2012, Katie has been invited to perform on the Home Routes Maritime circuit with 13 shows in 15 days.

Her first album now available is called “My Side Of Town” and released on Sandbar Music. It was nominated for two Music PEI awards in 2011.

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
