Saint Teresa was a 16th-Century Spanish nun and mystic. Teresa meditated as a form of prayer and believed contemplation led to her mystical visions. She said her physical body united with God through love; her writings on these topics have influenced spiritual thinkers for hundreds of years. I was able to travel to Rome to see a famous, sensual statue of Teresa in ecstasy, created by Italian sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. After returning home, I wrote this song.
