Hildegard von Bingen was a 12th-Century German nun and mystic. She recorded her visions in books, art, and music, which is still performed today throughout the world. She revered nature and was a pioneer of Western herbal medicine. She also believed that all parts of creation work together as one whole. Hildegard viewed humans as perfect, beautiful elements of Divinity, corrupted only when we choose harmful thoughts and behaviors. This song is based on Hildegard's philosophies. Incidentally, in the recording, I sing the very last word of the song ("see") over several measures, and modulate the sound across many notes while doing so, because that's what Hildegard did when singing her songs.
