Daddy's Shoes

I actually wrote the lyrics to this song sitting in the living room of my parents' home on Father's Day weekend. I performed it before it was finished, just a couple of strummed chords with a scrap of paper sitting on the music stand in front of me with portions of the chorus scratched out and rewritten just minutes before I sang it. It's an anthem about a father's impact on a boy's life as he was growing up. As I sat down to work out the musical arrangement, I decided that the essence of the song was its simplicity, and that its power was in the message. For that reason, with the exception of the bass line, this song has an entirely acoustic arrangement and a one-part harmony.
